8am at our house
the furnace is working hard this morning
(thankfully the tech fixed it on Friday!)
to keep the upstairs at a steady 67°
(the downstairs is a chilly 58°)
and outside...

and with the windchill...

a wintry -33°
(actually a degree colder than 30 minutes ago)
The weather site expounds:
"Dangerous windchills. Limit outdoor exposure."
Trevor reported that on his 45 minute drive this morning
he could not defrost the windows,
the locks wouldn't work (they are not automatic,
and the parking/emerg brake light stayed on
even though he had disengaged the brake.
Cold weather does crazy things to a 15 year old car!
This -33° beats our previous cold-temperature
record of -27° that we had in Wisconsin (that was the day I drove myself to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport to fly to UT for my grandfather's funeral--it was a 3 hour drive and my windows were STILL not defrosted by the time I arrived at the airport that morning).
We'll be staying inside today,
thankyouverymuch.
And wearing blankets
while we sip hot chocolate
and other such warm goodies.
