Monday was Labor Day
We took advantage of the time together (yay! Dad is home this week and had off on Labor Day!)...we played outside and rolled up our sleeves to work on the garage. We de-cluttered, organized, & cleaned--it was a laboring day at our house, for sure.
Wonderfully, it was a cool day and we enjoyed being outside together! (See? The photo below--kid in jackets!)
The kids played with all of the extras we were throwing out from the rafters. Soon, the boys had a plan of action--they drew their blueprint:
...and built their dream house.
It stayed up all week &
was the best playhouse EVER.
Except for the ants. They never could solve their ant problem.
On Tuesday we practiced our string strummin' skills
And went on a family bike/walk that took us to a bike shop and a detour stop at Silver Lake:
On Wednesday we met some new friends at the downstream shallow waters of Minnehaha Falls...we brought empty peanut butter cans for our "discovery jars".
On Thursday (Above) we had friends over...drawing monsters on the big chalkboard was a hit!
We had our FIRST EVER sleepover with best friends D (4) and B (2 weeks older than Miss N) while their parents worked on their new house. The sleepover night was a blast. Everyone did quite well, I was impressed.
On Friday (below) we enjoyed playtime outside with those friends plus 3 more (until the bees arrived) and inside (including snacks & lunch--see photo)
On Saturday morning, J created a blue print for something else--an airplane. With the help of Dad, he had soon constructed a new flying machine:
Then we went to Lakeshore Learning Store to take advantage of their free craft Saturdays (just found out about this!). They had a craft project making little guitars (maybe they are ukelele's?) and so we went--the boys had a blast!

On our way home we stopped at a few yard sales & then got a photo of the three of us in shades of green:
My yard sale find was a 50 cent inflatable boat/sitting/floating device for babies/toddlers. With the water toy under my arm, I proposed we spend the rest of the afternoon in some water. Everyone agreed & we were off (back to Silver Lake!)
We took our kayak out and really enjoyed the lapping waves and warm afternoon. We found a little beach off to the side that is somewhat secluded--our very own spot. It was lovely.
Sunday...we spent the morning enjoying our time together and a back to school photo shoot outside before a short rainstorm.

My new FB timeline cover photo. Cuteness abounds. |
Miss N & I were in matching purple (and owl themed), so Trevor snapped a few photos of us in our Sunday dress:
We went to Church and worked really hard to be reverent (I have new incentives: scratch and sniff stickers! These remind me of the ones I received as rewards for being reverent in Church when I was a Primary kid. The wiff of banana scratch and sniff brings back so many memories...) After Church we built a few lego houses & watched a move about temples. After the boys went to bed, Miss N & I made some lemon cupcakes. She had the beaters to herself for the first time ever.
I think she liked it.
Our week was amazing;
I can't believe we're one full week into September!
We are looking forward to starting school this new week and many, many more adventures.
P.S. Did you know N's hair is curly? I can get his curls to stand out with hair gel/mousse and expecially if I add those products while it's wet. Check it out:
