...and 11 hours of blissful epidural-protecting labor...
...a few concerns (baby's size, being 'stuck' at a 7cm for hours & hours & hours, and using pitocin on a uterus with a scar)
...we decided to have a repeat C-section,
and at 3:51am THIS MORNING (Aug 16th)
Nathanael Spencer Harper
joined our family!
He is being carefully monitored and given extra oxygen helpers, an IV, and done extra testing in the nursery. Trevor has spent all morning with him, I have only seen him for a few minutes after he was born. If he needs more than what can be offered here, there is some talk of transferring him to the Children's Hospital in Chicago. From what we have been told so far, this is not an emergency situation--just something that has to be worked out in his "transition" time and requires special attention & monitoring.
We are hopeful and prayerful that he will figure it out very soon and be able to stay right here in the hospital with us as I recovery from my surgery.
I just can't wait to cuddle our newest little man!

Welcome Baby Nathan! Sorry the VBAC didn't work out in the end. But it's great to finally see him, and hopefully you can cuddle him soon. What an adorable chunky little man!

We love you so much!

What an ADORABLE hunk of a little man! Oh he is so squishy. I am so glad that all went well. I have been thinking about you this weekend, thinking, "Surely she has had that baby by now!" ; ) So glad your mama is there to help out since you ended up needing a c-section. Hope he gets the hang of breathing air very soon! You all are in our prayers!
So sweet! CONGRATULATIONS!! I am praying that he transitions quickly and smoothly.
So happy that Nathan is finally here! You are all in our thoughts and we are sending extra prayers your way. I am sure he will figure it out quickly enough and your beautiful new family of 4 will be all together at home. Love to all of you!!!!
Wow you are fast at posting!
So proud of you in so many ways! I'll be thinking and praying for your little Nathan and that you can have him in your arms soon.
Welcome baby Nathan! Praying for a quick recovery for you and that Nathan is back in your arms healthy and breathing great on his own. We all miss you and are thinking about you all!
He looks so much like Jackson....who has been up , for some reason , since 6:30....really strange for him. ( and me!) I can't tell about Nathan's red hair, though, in the pics, but Trevor said the nurses said YES to RED.
Soon he will be all ready to get some hugs from his mama... it is hard to have that separation right at the first.
Great to know the Dr. thinks he is on the fast track to transitioning!
Take a nap! Get some rest! Even eat some hospital food. See you soon! Love ya up to the sky...and it doesn't matter how you get the little ones here, they just wanna come!
What a big ol' baby!! And, oh so stinking cute! I don't see any resemblance to anyone yet but I'll keep looking :) I love his name! I hope he figures out the life thing and doesn't have to get transported to Chicago.. will be praying for him and a quick recovery for you. Keep your head up: you did EVERYTHING you could for a VBAC.
Congratulations, Shara!! I'm so excited for you! He's so cute. :) I'm sure he'll get the hang of breathing soon. I hope you feel better soon, too.
Way to go, Shara! You are a trooper. I'm sorry he can't be with you yet. That must be hard. I hope he gets to transition to your room soon! Love and prayers coming your way.
To use a Norda Kota phrase, UF DAH!!! WOW are you a champ. This just proves what you are made of. Pioneer stock!! ;-)
Sorry the VBAC didn't work out like you wanted, but you certainly gave it your all.
It's just nice that he's healthy and beautiful and ready for his new life on earth! He has two amazingly wonderful people to take care of him, fo' sho', yo.
Sending you all my love!!
Congratulations!! He's so darling, all chubs and healthy! I hope things stabilize quickly and you get to cuddle him soon!
