This is a serious milestone, folks!
While many cars won't even MAKE IT to 200,000 miles, we have been so excited to see those numbers on ours. It has been a goal for a year or so "we want to get 200,000 miles on our car!" Trevor was especially giddy about it--there is a sense of frugal accomplishment and hearty pride in our four-wheeled friend.
The best part of it is, we have put the entire 200,000 miles on the Mitsubishi! Trevor bought this car brand new 12 years ago. It has worn license plates from Kentucky, Utah, and will soon be proudly wearing Wisconsin plates.
Our green Mirage has been faithful in taking us where we need to go, offering amenities such as: a tape deck, 4 doors, A/C & heat, manual locks, manual windows (yes, I know...fancy!), complete with a snazzy spoiler on the back (oh, and did I mention it gets 35 mpg?).
We hope to upgrade in the future; but for now, we are grateful for 2 very awesome, not-new-at-all, no-payment necessary, excellent gas mileage CARS.

Ok, back to Saturday's schedule.
7:50am: Arrive in St. Paul, Minnesota
8:05am: Pull into the St. Paul LDS Temple parking lot
8:20am: Pass J off to Miss J our friend & willing babysitter
(who met us early on Saturday morning even though she only had a few hours of sleep: THANK YOU!!)
9:00am: Temple session together (!!)
11:00am: Find J happily playing, not missing us at all (he makes it easy to get sitters!)11:30am: Check out the local LDS bookstore (exciting that there is one!)
12:00pm: Pick up our order from the Bishop's Storehouse (yay, food storage!)
1:00pm: Mall of America to walk around
1:00pm: Mall of America to walk around1:30pm: Lunch (wayyy overpriced, next time we should eat outSIDE the MOA)
2:00pm: J gazes longingly at Lego Land from the 3rd floor:

3:00pm: We decide we had better leave before the place gets crazy-ER (MOA was hosting "the largest indoor trick-or-treating" that day)

Later: Go to bed, trick-or-treat-less, but very happy: It was a WONDERFUL day!

Hey, we went to the temple Halloween morning too! :) Except we left our kids in bed and my brother just tended them when they got up. And our drive was only 15 minutes. I think you two are gonna get a whole lot more blessings for going than we are! ;)
Wow---what a day! Sounds like fun (minus the getting up and leaving at 4AM part, yuck!) Glad J had a nice baby-sitter! ;)

I appreciate your 200K! Yay for you! That's what it takes to destroy the misconception that high mileage cars are clunkers. Getting 30+ mpg and still being reliable is a big deal. Our corolla is up to 165K, so give us a few years and we'll join you in the 200K club. It's nice when you don't have to worry about your transportation.
