Nana, Papa, J, Trevor, N 03.2011
We decided (fairly last minute-ish) that it was high time we took a trip down South. We looked at Trevor's work schedule & noticed that his Mom's bday coincided with some open time so we sent her an email with a surprise message
and started to make plans!
Besides celebrating Nana's birthday
**which was fantastic**
Trevor has felt a particular urge to bring our boys down to spend time with their two sets of great grands.
That's right.
Our boys have FOUR great-grandparents!
We spent time at each of their homes, it was wonderful!
J had a magna-doodle art contest going with Granddad (Grannymother was the judge)

We enjoyed fun visits, watched a few March Madness games,
(UK made up for our BYU-broken hearts)
ate deliciously homemade bread (and cinnamon rolls...oh, the cinnamon rolls!)
made from freshly ground wheat & baked by Nana
(I think he's teething?)
but I didn't mind
And neither did the grand & great-grands...
J was excited to tell everyone about his 'big boy' underwear
and did an excellent job continuing his potty training success
(besides the public restroom automatic flushers--can we say--terrified?)
He had a good long chat with Granny Rose (& later with Papa Edd)

Trevor always enjoys showing J around his "old stompin' ground" in Possum Trot, Kentucky...
We met up with the aunts, uncles, & cousins to play at an indoor play place (it was rainy & cold all weekend! bah!) called YaYa's Island.
Ya, Ya!--it was awesome--J had a blast:
Besides the runny noses, rainy clouds, and BYU jumping off of our brackets--
it was a FULL & FUN weekend
with our Kentucky family.
The drive isn't too bad--only about 6 hours...
unless you have kids.
In which case it's more like 8 (we do have a potty training toddler & a nursing baby, ya know!), which really wasn't bad at all. We are grateful to be close enough now so that we CAN make these kinds of quick trips as our schedules and plans allow.
Next time we hope we can coordinate a visit with our Tennessee folks as well!
We didn't take a *ton* of photos-- it was a fast & furious trip.
However, I did spend a naptime outside practicing different settings on my camera--here is one of my favorites:

Ok, Shara! Shame on your for not having us meet you up at Ya- Ya's Island! So glad you got to enjoy some family down time! Nothing beats that and it's so worth the stressful drive.
I know! Honestly, I didn't make ANY plans with ANYONE. I just said we are coming down for birthday & family time--and we just happened to bump into Deana & crew (and a few other Paducah pals) at a baptism that Trevor's Dad was conducting on Fri night (that was also Trevor's bro-in-law's niece...so we're *kinda* family, right?) lol
It was really nice to visit with Trevor's family--always busy since everyone lives there & we want to make sure we see everyone!
Looks like tons of fun....and beautiful weather.
So - how about a trip to Michigan?
Ari and I (and my mother in law) are making a really quick (48 hrs total to be exact) trip to Chicago in May for a baby shower. Our train arrives at 11:30 Sat morning and we head back home at noon on Monday (see, I told you it was quick!). We want to get one sight-seeing adventure (maybe Shedd's?) in on Saturday when we arrive and before a planned family dinner that night - so maybe we could meet up there?????
