Toddler J: 28 months

This is J's most favorite 'toy' of all time--who is really more like his favorite friend. It is a stuffed ferret we purchased last fall at IKEA. This is what he looked like brand new. You can see his stuffing has relocated to his bum and his fur is ruffled from non-stop love and several 'baths' in the wash. His name is Wawee (wah-wee) which is how J first attempted to say the word "ferret". He is a part of our family.

On their way home from Church this morning, Trevor heard a frantic J yell "Wawee! Wawee!Wawee!" He could tell it wasn't the normal playful chatter and glanced back to the back seat through the rear view mirror. J was looking outside, a face full of fear. The window was down and Wawee was no where to be seen.

"Did you throw Wawee out the window?"

"Yes. Wawee! Wawee!"

As any loving father would do, Trevor turned the car around and went back to hunt for the fallen ferret. Luckily, he was on the side of the highway and easy to spot. Trevor dodged traffic to save our favorite weasel.
Thankfully, Wawee was spared any major damage--a bandaid or two ought to do it, but he has to go into the wash for the 'road rash' he acquired on his face.

J almost didn't go down for a nap, he was so distraught. We are on the look out for a replacement ferret, should something like this happen again and we actually lose him. Unfortunately, they cannot be purchased on the IKEA website, and none of the stores in our area have them in stock. Hopefully, his ratty fur will last as long as stuffed animals are important to our J...

...who is now 28 months old!

I haven't done a "monthly update post" on J in awhile and since I was in the mode with Baby N, I figured I'd go ahead and add some notes about J plus a few of the photos I took this morning.
J is:

-hilarious: a natural entertainer
-attention-grabbing: his red hair never fails to please the masses
-emotional: well, he's a 2 year old, what can we say
-skilled: at puzzles, block-building, coloring circles & lines, naming colors, alphabet, and shapes
-a great eater (nursery leader asked today what he likes to do other than eat! Trevor said "eat more!"), loves a good snack
-a great host: had a friend over the other day & made sure his bowl of grapes was filled every time it got low on the snack
-a fun side-kick: loves to go "downtown" (anywhere in the car)
-a huge fan of all things transportation: airplanes, trains, helicopters, trucks, cars, school buses
-an amazing sleeper (12 hrs/ night + a 2-3 hr nap)
-an athlete: pro jumper, runner, climber, dancer, and thrower
-a scriptorian: cannot go to bed without reading scriptures
-a vocalist: loves to talk, chatter, sing, hum, mumble, and scream when prompted by above mentioned "emotional" moments

-a fantastic big brother:
We love our boys!

So sad about the ferret, but awesome that Trevor found him. If I ever get to Ikea I'll check our store for you. And what a sweet boy to always want to read scriptures before bed. :)

Audrey has a blanket that she loves that looks pretty raggedy.
Your boys are so adorable! Baby N is looking so cute and J looks just like his daddy (well, with red hair). I love profile picture of him, such bright red hair! Cute pictures from the zoo too. You're much better at keeping up your blog than me!
I know Liz from BYU. It's one of my favorite blogs. Camille is my cousins wife. Do you know them? My other cousin Kati has a good crafty blog too it's called
