Due Date Schmoo Schmate!

Baby Nathan, snuggled happily inside Tha Belly--08.09.10--40 weeks

For journaling purposes, here's a rundown of the day:

-Slept in
-Had a cereal breakfast and a spoonful of Dad's freezer jam
-Checked emails & facebook
-Thought about updating the blog but realized that Trevor had the camera with him on a consult visit
-Drank some water
-Played with J
-Took a shower & got ready for the afternoon
-Drove with Mom to the midwives office
-Had a good visit--weight's the same, blood pressure good, heartbeat great, talked about options & decided to forgo "checking" since I haven't had any major contractions, and declined the offer to 'strip membranes'--I just wasn't feeling very decisive
-Went to a fabulous Greek restaurant with Mom, ate my heart out!
-Was told by the waiter that I was having a girl...I politely informed him that it's a boy & my 'due date', he was shocked
-Was chastised by an older lady for "eating too much" so close to labor. After the chastisement, she placed her hand on my belly & gave me a 'belly prayer'--after which, she looked at me with her Mediterranean eyes (through her square, black-rimmed glasses) and told me "3 days. You'll have this baby in 3 days."
-Marveled at the luck of meeting a fortune teller in the bathroom at the Greek restaurant and finding out exactly when Baby N will be born...really, how nice!! *chuckle*
-Debated about going back to the midwives' practice to request a stripping of them there membranes...
-Decided to head home again (will probably do the stripping at my Friday appointment...that is, if my Greek Mystic Grandma was wrong in her prediction of 3 days)
-Struggled with an 'infected' computer
-Somehow 'fixed' computer
-Overcome with anxiety emotions--took a long, relaxing bath
-Fell asleep all stretched out in our bed (Trevor slept on the couch)

Overall the day was quite nice!
I haven't had any contractions to make a big deal about, so I guess Baby N isn't ready to join us yet! Will keep ya posted!

**Feeling fine, really. I am not anxious for his arrival, other than the fact that if I go 2 weeks over, then I'll have to have a repeat c/s. Also, I'd like to take full advantage of my mother's willingness to be here AND Trevor's more open schedule this week. So, I'm eating pineapple and taking evening primrose oil capsules. I *may* go on a vigorous walk later today...if I find the energy to do so...

Those Greek yayas know what they're talking about, so be prepared on Thursday, just in case! ;-) ;-)
You're on my "friends giving birth any day" radar! Keep us posted and good luck!
Sending you all my love sweetie!!!

Hahaha...I still love the belly prayer & due date revelation. I think she'll probably be right. ;)

I was also offered to have my membranes stripped on my due date but I wimped out too and kept wondering if I should call to go back. Eh--things worked out and they will for you too...in 2 days, right! ;)

Thinking about you lots!

(AND I am coming to Chicago this weekend and would love to see you for a minute and was *hoping* to see baby Nathan too but I guess we'll have to see? Come out, come out! :)

I just don't understand why some people think your belly is free game. Ugh. But that's awesome she's a psychic/fortune teller. Now you can plan your life accordingly.
Also, you don't necessarily need lots of contractions beforehand to go into labor. I didn't. And get a foot massage. I think that may have spurred on my labor. ;) (cause you can totally control when it happens, right, right? Wink, wink)

I keep checking in! Love the name Nathan (its my brother's and is on our short list for future boys). Hope all goes well. It was so fun to see your parents at my show! Give that Aunt Linda a hug for me. I really didn't get to talk to them for more than ten seconds..sadness.

that is hillarious. Someone actually said you ate too much? man some people are so weird!!!

I had my dr strip my membranes, supposedly if its going to work, it will within 24 hrs-according to my dr. but I went into labor 48 hrs later so who knows?!?!

good luck!!!

while we were at the midwives office I read a thing that said if you have the membranes stripped that labor will start within 72 hours for 2 out of 3 people ( from one study)...on the other hand 98% of predictions of a yaya in a greek restaurant are accurate 89% of the time and she appeared to be authentic. And today...IS THE DAY and the contractions are working away! ( Shara just took a walk to help things along...she is doing well.)
