New Spot & Summer Change

Everything was unloaded during a morning storm, and then we started cleaning/unpacking before the crazy storms started that night...J was eager to help!
Trevor cleaning out the cobwebs in the high ceiling window sills:
And, about a week later...things are starting to shape up.
Welcome to our NEW SPOT.
(Yes, that's the baby saying hello to you)
And here's the toddler welcoming you at our front door:
So the front door is actually facing the side yard. The garage is what you see when you pull up into our driveway.
Here's a peak at the back of the town house from the yard. The three windows on top are 1-Master bedroom, 2- Master bedroom, and 3- Master bath. The two windows on bottom are in the family room & the sliding door opens to our kitchen.
Speaking of the kitchen...
It's open but limited on cupboard, counter, and pantry space. Note the brand new kitchen island (just assembled yesterday!) adding some extra storage & counter top. It was the cheapest we could find online...who knew kitchen islands were so pricey?

The kitchen blends into the family room--this is the view from the kitchen. We have our table in the family room since it has laminate flooring and I can't imagine having the dinner table (at this stage in our lives) sitting on carpet. So it's like kitchen-blends-dining-blends-family room:

The view from the family room into the living room and front door/stair area:
The "play room" (originally set up as a dining room--directly across from living room & within view upon entering the front door)
View of the living room (and front door) from standing in the play room:
Hallway from playroom area that leads to the garage.
(the door on left is a small under-stair closet & door on the right is the downstairs bathroom)
The highlight of the stairway--our airplane poster!

We have been holding onto this thing for YEARS, just waiting for a big room or a big wall that could handle it--and we finally have it! It is one of our favorite things, and J absolutely loves it!

"Eh-pane! Eh-pane!"

(View from above the staircase)

So that's a very basic outside/downstairs tour.
(Sorry the pics aren't that great, I snapped 'em quickly last night so I could get them up this morning)

We have a lot of organizing/figuring out upstairs since we have to set up Trevor's home office as well. At first we were going to put it in our huge closet (that is more like a room!), then we decided the loft was a better option...and now we are thinking to set it up in a corner of our room so he can shut the door when he needs to.

Decisions, decisions.

*sigh*

The office desk arrives this morning (we hope! it was scheduled to arrive 2 days ago...) so the plan is to get it all set up this weekend for Trevor to be able to catch up on his work and really get settled in. He will be doing his contacting, paperwork, and reports at home and then of course his 'client visits' will be all over the metro Chicago area--as well as parts of WI and IN. This is a big change for him!

I guess change is the theme this summer.

Come to think of it...we had big changes last summer (KY to WI move & Trevor starting 1st post-grad job) and the summer before that (J was born)...and we will probably be "doing" more change next summer (found out last week through a casual remark that the owner of this town house is planning on selling next year...?)...

So--change it is.

Bring it on!

Everything looks great! Looks like you definitely have a little more 'breathing room' than in the WI apartment.

Our big move is tomorrow....

Hope all of you are doing well and settling in as best as you can....
