Into The City

This photo looks super-imposed.
But it's not, I promise!

Our first family METRA train ride--J was BEYOND thrilled to be on the train, it was so fun to watch his face as he was watching e-ver-y-thing!
On the train ride from small town to big city...
We traveled into the city with some new friends (yay! friends!)--they know how to get to and from and the details of the city and had some free passes to a museum, we were so glad to go enjoy a fun day with them!

Here are the Daddies pushing strollers across the river:
We walked a few more blocks to the bus station--where we hopped on for Jackson's first public transit bus ride--he was mesmerized:
We felt like we were being watched as we rode along...
(And, this is where the photos lose their chronological order. Sorry.)

Ok--just imagine a 2 year old saying with complete excitement & thrill: "TRAAAIIIN!"--this is on the ride back after a very busy, long day:
Earlier in the afternoon--pooped from running around, strolling around, and enjoying so many awesome exhibits at the museum:
...Speaking of Poop...
(from an agricultural science exhibit)
There were tons of amazing things to see at the Museum of Science & Industry--seriously awesome, huge, fascinating exhibits and stories. There is no way to see it all in one day (and we were there for about 5 hours!!)--and we took lots of photos but NONE of them do any justice to the wow-ness of it all.

Here's one of our family by the U-505 Submarine (the real thing)...and the lighting was low so you can't see much but the thing was amazing & the story is even more so.

And...yes I'm sporting a pretty huge belly.
(37 weeks tomorrow)
The museum was fabulous, we enjoyed a long day of discovery and adventure there. We had a blast riding the public transit (cta buses & metra trains)--ok, ok--J had a blast--we were busy trying to make sure the stroller was in place and that he was a happy toddler. We were so glad to enjoy our first INTO THE CITY outing with new friends!! It was great to get to know them better and follow their lead with getting to where we wanted to be.

Their daughter & J became best buds pretty quickly--it was awesome she was willing to hold his hand when he wanted to run off and was a great buddy for him.
Next on our sightseeing list?

The zoo!

Stay posted...we're hoping for a zoo visit sometime this week...

Looks like fun! By the time we travel back to Chicago next year, you should be seasoned tourist guides for us!

This brings back so many big city memories! Like the time my Jack said very loudly about a black man across from us on the subway, "why does that man have chocolate on his face?" Looks like good times! Thanks for the belly shot. You look fabulous.
