Spring, Are You Here?

So the ice fisherman have taken their little huts down for the season & the roads have been clear of snow for a couple of weeks. What is left is--slushy-icy-dirty snow...and I realized today that underneath some of it (the snow piles to the side of highways/roads) is just filth that has been frozen at the bottom all winter long. Who knew? Not me--I just hope someone is going to be cleaning it all up, it's NOT pretty.

Snow piles are melting all over the place...some take a little longer than others (just depends on how much direct sunlight it receives)...our little corner of the world does NOT get very much sunlight, but (jump up and down with crazy cabin-fever-grin) it IS melting, ever-so-slowly.

Here's the view from our patio:
Nice melting snow/ice. YAY!

We've had some lovely 30's/40's days with the most beautiful sunshine EVER. Or at least it FEELS like it's the most beautiful sunshine ever. I can't remember ever being THIS excited for springtime! I guess it's a feature of tundra living.

So, on Saturday we enjoyed a family walk around downtown for the first time since last fall:
Such a gorgeous day!
It was lovely.

Today has been EVEN BETTER--upper 40's & fabulous!

J & I ran some errands, stopped by a pet store (just for the fun of it), took a walk, and then I took a longer walk with him in the stroller--it was WONDERFUL to feel the warmth of the sun & the energy in my legs, I am so excited for SPRINGTIME.

I plan to take FULL advantage of these spring-sunny days...no staying inside for us!!

I was completely ready for Spring, but last Friday old man winter decided to dump a few inches of snow on our parts; now I'm starting to think it may be a while before Spring debuts. Funny what you mentioned about all the crud underneath the melting snow piles. I remember while I was living up in Rexburg, Idaho (it's a frozen wasteland during the winter) seeing a soda pop can standing up in frozen ice in our apartment parking lot. The ice blanketing our apartment complexes parking lot had to have been at least 8 inches thick (I am NOT exaggerating); the little pop can just got frozen in the ice over night it seemed!

YAY! I'm glad you're getting a break from it. Get yourself mentally prepared for when it dumps that one (or two) last times. Three out of four years there we got over 6 inches in April.
