Thanksgiving 2009

This year was our very FIRST Thanksgiving away from our families (as a married couple). We have been so blessed the last 5 Thanksgivings to be able to spend with both of our families, given their distance from where we were living. We definitely missed Granny Rose's rolls & pies, the family feasting by the lake with Trevor's family, and the around-the-table thanks with my family.

However, we were also excited about our first Thanksgiving to be sharing on our own. We spent the day preparing delicious eats, and then went to our friends' home to celebrate the Day of Thanks. They were gracious enough to host at their house (they are also new to the area & have families far away & we agreed that if we are all here next year, we will host!) & we divided up the menu.

Thanksgiving Dinner Menu:
Turkey & gravy(them)
Ham (us)
Rolls (them)
Green bean casserole (us)
Mashed Potatoes (them)
Creamy corn (us)
Stuffing (them)
Deviled eggs (us)
Pies (them)
Cake (us)

I also had fun making the place settings for all of us: I painted little pumpkins gold & made little name cards, they were easy & fun to make.
Unfortunately I didn't take very many pictures of our table full o'food OR our friends...I hate it when that happens.

Oh well, I guess that means we were having too much fun visiting, eating, and enjoying the evening.

Hope you did too!
