August Days...Granddaddy Days

Granddaddy's stay was longer than originally planned, and boy did we enjoy it!
Granddaddy enjoyed cooling off in the kiddie pool...

IKEA. We went more than once (a short drive from our place). Plus free kids meals in Aug!

Seriously. These two LOVED their pool time!
Besides oodles of play time, Granddaddy helped with lots of house projects. One of the more exciting ones was his invention of: THE DIAPER DROP.

Here, J demonstrates:
The awesome DIAPER DROP. Engineered by you-know-who.
So, you just drop the diaper down this awesome pipe attached to our 2nd story deck. The soiled diaper then falls to its trash-bag home, inside the bucket below. No need to go down steps or around back to throw diapers away! YAY! J loves taking diapers out for me.

We also added three plexi-glass panels (that Trevor measured for and special-ordered) to the railing along our main floor hallway and living room. Since the home was built in the 80's, the spacing of the rails were not up to code. Both boys could fit their heads through the gaps!! The plexi glass is perfect, we just added it with  velcro.

I did not make very many fancy meals for us, I was really quite tired and worn out after the bulk of the move was over. However, Granddaddy did make lots of delicious things for us...homemade ice creams and, of course (if you know my Dad)...we had to have some of his homemade waffles:
Waffle dinners. A must-do when Granddaddy is around!
This last set is just a random collection of pics from the first weeks of Aug when Granddaddy was here. We enjoyed several fun outings, worked on lots of home projects, & made awesome memories!
Just fun: Mall of America escalators, library time, play-dough, and the toilet paper pic? That was Nathan's first TP mess!

Genius diaper chute! We collect our garbage and recycling bags in our outdoor basement stairwell. Not as efficient as your chute but we only have to take it out to the cans once a week.

Ok, I need one of those diaper drops!! Awesome. And we did the plexiglass/velcro thing on the bottom of our entertainment armoire. At some point they will figure it out and pull it off. :) But for now, it works like a charm!

Your dad is so awesome! I love the pictures of him in the pool. And the diaper drop...genius! Good thing you also figured out about the railings before an accident happened! Scary.
