J is growing so fast--he is quickly becoming a BIG BOY!
He learned & grew a lot this summer with so many changes in our family: new home, new friends, new baby...and now he is growing up even more with NEW UNDIES!
I still cannot believe we are potty training.
J is sweet & helpful.
He is an excellent helper for Mama & Daddy--
in the kitchen (wearing his "aperon")
in the house (vacuuming)
with Baby N (best distraction EVER when N is unhappy)
He is tender with Mama when she is tired:
"Your tired? Mama?"
And he will bring a blanket and pillow for Mama to rest.
He is sweet with his brother
"What's wong, Naytham? What's wong?"
J is creative & fiesty.
His personality shines stronger EVERY day
as he adds new vocabulary, voice inflections, and his own ideas to our daily mix.
Today he acted out an entire routine of getting in the car, going to the store,
buying some paper and oranges, then to the post office (even dropping some pretend mail & picking it up--"oops! drop it!") and coming back home again (parking his car in his playhouse). I had a blast watching and interacting with his very creative imagination this afternoon.
J is smart & funny.
He likes to make people smile. He grabs people's attention whether they like it or not--his hair does all the first impression talking & then he takes over from there. He woos with his renditions of "Twinkle Leh-ull Star" and his bright blue eyes.
He knows his shapes, colors, can identify letters, and explains several scripture stories (when he is in the mood to share his knowledge).
A few current favorites:
-cranberries (craisins, but he calls them cranberries)
-playing ball
-being thrown up in the air by Daddy
-reading books with a blanket
-skyping with grandparents
-coloring
-playing with trains
-veggie straw snacks
-going on "adventures" (walks, out to run errands, etc)
-friends (he mentions: Calvin, Grant, Hannah, & Brooklyn regularly)
-long "swimming" baths in the tub
-stickers on his cheeks (see above photo)
-sweet rewards "chocwat chips" and "enem ens" (M&Ms)
-all things cheese
-wearing his pajamas, or "cozy" pants
-pulling off his socks at his earliest convenience
-Thomas The Train
-sliding on his bum down the stairs
-sleeping with his favorite stuffed animals
(currently: Wawee the ferret, Yaya the koala bear, a puppy dog, a caterpillar, and a rubber ducky)
-running in circles (literally)
-jumping on beds & off of curbs
He's 2 1/2 so, really, every day is an adventure!

How cute are the "roo roo" pics. (underwear in our house) Just this Monday we headed to the store and purchased a new pair of big boy roo roo's for Matthew. He has been wearing them for the week and loving it! We use skittles for potty treats and even throw in an extra one for a good hand washing. Potty training has GOT to be one of the worst things about parenthood. DETEST IT!! I have even thought about paying one of the older siblings 25 bucks to potty train a younger child! ; ) When Abigail or Gabe assist in the process, I always throw in a potty treat for them too! Looking forward to NO more diapers!!
