The week before our move, friends would ask us how things were going & what the schedule was for the move. We didn't know for sure when things would be arriving at our new place, but we knew that 'the packers' were coming on Monday morning.
For a few of our Wisconsin friends, they had to ask twice..."what? the Packers are coming?"
lol
I'm not kidding. That's what kind of fans Wisconsinites really are!
:)
At any rate, to prepare for the packers we had to make value lists of all of our stuff, have everything off the walls and unplugged, and most importantly have a pile of "DO NOT PACK" items properly stashed & labeled. Otherwise--it would get packed.
We'd heard stories about wallets, trash, and keys getting packed with the regular household items so we were sure to label our pile of do-not-pack and keep it roped off throughout the day.
Since we didn't know how long we'd be 'in limbo', we packed for a full week and alot of extras as well. In the end, we had to change our plans and leave a day early because the driver was ready to deliver our stuff the very next day! We were glad to have things going quickly, but it was pretty crazy.
Here's a pic of Trevor & J the morning before The Packers came:
Trevor's company contracted with another company to arrange our move who contracted with Graebel van lines to do most of the grunt work. Overall we were pleased with their work--only 1 broken lamp and a few scratches here and there. They were quick & efficient and since our stuff went straight from our apartment to the truck to the town house we weren't in any danger of "losing" anything. It was difficult for me to watch someone else pack our stuff, but nice to not have to do the work on the front end.
Unpacking?
Now that's a different story.
(Although, they will unpack for you--for an extra fee!)
