My current responsibility at Church
or 'calling' as we say in Mormon lingo
is to serve as the "Relief Society Activity Coordinator"
for the Additional Relief Society meetings
held during weekdays.
My favorite part of the preparations?
Taking care of the PR
& making posters.
This is one of my favorite posters so far.
I don't have any experience with computer aided design,
so I stick with what I know.
Scissors, a little mod podge, scrapbook paper,
and a sprinkling of creative imagination
(the last of which I owe to my Mother)
Tuesday night was our annual
Relief Society birthday
or commemoration celebration
Whatever you call it,
we're celebrating
170 years
of this awesome society of women.
More on the Relief Society here
Since we were celebrating
"Sisters Around The World"
I got to pull out my boxes
of Portuguese
treasures
I had the opportunity to share a little bit about the country, language, cities, people, traditions, culture, music, life, and what the RS is like in Portugal.
Since the Church curriculum, programs, & organization are exactly the same no matter where you go...it's pretty much the same, just with a bit of Portuguese spice added in.

We also enjoyed beautiful & fascinating
presentations (& food!) that was shared by
a Sister from Samoa and a Sister from India
I have to admit,
I felt pretty non-authentic
since these awesome ladies
were sharing about their home countries
and all I had was a year and half
of living in Portugal
(as a missionary, no less,
which we all know is NOT normal life)
However, as always,
I absolutely LOVE talking about
Portugal from my experiences
and will jump at any opportunity to do so!
