Goodbye September

September has been fun

We've been watching the leaves fall in our yard,
had races with the acorns,
and enjoyed the cool outside air.

Enjoying Fall. September 2011
I've been trying to capture small pieces of fall...
as it happens

As we all know...
the season ripens, beautifies,
and then in a blink of an eye
**

It's gone!

So we've been trying to take advantage of the beautiful days, enjoying park playtime and lazy morning walks.

 Another perk of fall...
(depends on how you look at it)
the early sunsets.

I don't know about you,
but my kids have been getting to bed
 earlier and it's been fantastic.

Also, on chilly evenings...
what better family activity than baking?

J & I have made a few batches
of chocolate chip cookies lately.
He is an AWESOME helper.

He is learning how to measure & pour slowly.
He looks great in his green apron,
and the kitchenaid mixer is one of his favorite kitchen machines!

He also enjoys taste-testing the chocolate chips...

This particular night he wanted to add all of the dry ingredients with a tablespoon.
At first I said "no"
And then I thought...WHY NOT?

We didn't have any time restraints or commitments...and besides having delicious cookies in our pantry, this was really about enjoying the time together, right?

So I let him do it.
And in my mind I scolded myself for not enjoying the moments like this more often.

It was messy, it took awhile, and it was awesome.
He loved every scoop!

The cookies and other baking projects
have contributed to my recent weight gain...

...

Oh wait.
I'm also growing a baby:
Sept. 21, 2011 28 1/2 weeks Baby #3.

I'm definitely in my maternity wear now,
propping myself up with pillows at night,
and besides a couple of dizzy days--feeling great overall!

Another baking project from this last week--
CUPCAKES.

I made chocolate fudge cupcakes
with
caramel buttercream frosting.

I separated them into large batch decorated with fall accent sprinkles & a smaller group with toffee chips for a birthday gift.

It feels great to enjoy baking projects,
especially on these chilly fall evenings!

See ya next year, September...

Thanks for the fun!

Those cupcakes look FANTASTIC. And, don't scold yourself. We all have the same desire- to let them do that all the time BUT the same time constraints- we just can't. It wouldn't be special if they helped every single time!
