N: 13 Months

Ode To "Oh Where Is My  Hairbrush?" N 09.2011

 Our N is growing so fast, 13 months already!

While his name is *finally* correct on his birth certificate, there is a HUGE runaround with the ss card that will require some time. I am now wondering if it is all worth it...but we've gone through the pain of making the corrections this far, I guess we have to finish the project.

N is into pretty much...oh...EVERYTHING these days.

He has been found opening boxes of snacks, emptying boxes of tissues, depleting our supplies of wipes, and throwing puzzle pieces down the stairs. All with a completely satisfied grin on his face (showing all 6 teeth!)

He pulls up to standing EVERY SINGLE CHANCE he gets and takes great pride in the occasional standing-alone moment. He walks along all the furniture that he can and wants to follow his big brother around constantly. He will walk for a bit with the assistance of furniture or another person holding his hands...but still finds great speed in his crawling.

N loves to eat and has recently come up with his own hierarchy of foods (ex: peas are not as great as the applesauce in which they are hidden). We now have to hide any foods that we don't want to share with him (ex: freshly baked brownies). He is not convinced that cow's milk is where it's at, but has officially stopped breastfeeding. He is willing to eat whatever falls on the floor, feed himself, and make a fantastic mess!!

He likes to point to lights, airplanes (we see A LOT, since we live so close to the MSP airport), and a picture of Mama & Daddy on the wall. He waves "hi" and "bye bye", can sign "more", and enjoys a fun game of jumping around and clapping!

He likes to play in the grass, go on walks, swing (!!), play any kind of game, and take away big brother's toys. We are working on sharing (more on big brother's end at this stage).

He has always been (and continues to be, much to his mother's joy!) a cuddle bug. He loves his cuddle time! I likes to cuddle when he first wakes up, before/after naptime, and before bedtime. He recently started patting me gently on my shoulder as we cuddle (as I am patting his back) which is so tender!
I am more than happy to oblige his cuddling needs. Who doesn't love a little cuddle fest from a 13 month old with this kind of sweetness?

N gets a LOT of attention for his EYES.

They are big, curious, interested-in-everything eyes. When he was born, they were a lighter blue but now they are darker and getting flecks of green/hazel just like Mamas. People are often stopping us to comment on his 'big eyes'. I guess it is a good thing since J gets all of the red hair attention...N has his own physical trait to give him distinction!

We love our baby boy N, 

and appreciate the easy-going, fun personality

that he adds to our family!
