Afternoon Nature Walk: Minnehaha Falls

A short drive from where we live,
we can take a nice walk down to
Minnehaha Falls.

We like to go because we like to say the name.
Minnehaha.

Go ahead. Say it and smile.

Family Nature Walk: Minnehaha Falls. Sept. 2011
The Minnehaha Creek is a little flowing waterway from the Mississippi River and is located in Minneapolis. The falls is not far from where the creek & river meet up. Minnehaha does not mean "laughing water" as one would assume (or like to assume?), but quite literally Waterfall in the Dakota Native American Indian language.

It was a lovely afternoon--we enjoyed being together and seeing the beautiful sunset by the Mississippi River.

Every time I hear Minnehaha, I think about that episode of Frosty the Snowman. When we lived in WI, it was always "Sheboygan" that was funny, courtesy of John Candy. :)
