Lazy Mornings, Fun Days

Honestly, we had a wonderful time with Grandmama & Granddaddy here.

Most mornings I slept in while Granddaddy & J were up and at 'em.
It was wonderful.

We enjoyed walks together, long talks at night, shared stories, and explored new places.

One of the big events during their stay was saying goodbye to the playhouse.
Granddaddy built this playhouse for J last August when we bought our recliner (waiting for Baby N to make his grand entrance). It has been well loved ever since! It was a favorite for friends and kept J entertained for hours--jumping, climbing, playing, creating...it has been amazing!

However--it was time to get rid of the thing. So, J said his goodbyes & we "gave" it to the garbage truck the next morning.

J followed Granddaddy EVERYWHERE.
Here he is helping Granddaddy check the air in his tires.
It is always fun when grandparents are in town--I feel like I get a 'break' of sorts since the boys are so entertained by story time, play time, extra walks, etc.

Beyond that, there is something very special about having your parents in town. I was really looking forward to their trip and so grateful for their love and support of our family.

Trevor & Granddaddy reviewing a map of Illinois:

Trevor has been working out of town A LOT lately.
Like, 5 weeks in a row he was GONE during the week.
We miss him when he's gone.
Having Grandmama & Granddaddy here helped fill in some of the gaps.

One of the big projects during the week was with FOOD STORAGE.
J is helping Granddaddy fill plastic soda bottles with wheat. We have had our wheat in their original plastic bags for a couple of years--it was time to find a better place for them. Granddaddy has been putting his food storage in soda bottles--they store nicely, you can get them for pretty cheap (or free, just ask a neighbor), and you only have to open one sealed bottle at a time (instead of an entire bucket). He was very kind to bottle up several lbs of wheat & beans for us. J LOVED helping with this project.

While J & Granddaddy were bottling wheat...

Grandmama was teaching me how to USE it!

Actually--this is all white flour bread, but still.

Doesn't it look delicious?

I really didn't take TONS of photos while they were here...we really had a very relaxing time while also packing plenty of extras into the week. We of course indulged in some quality CHICAGO STYLE DEEP DISH PIZZA which was just fantastic.

Can't go to Chicago without having Chicago Pizza, right?
