1st of Feb

So...unless you haven't seen any weather reports lately, you know that there is a mega-blizzard that is supposed to hit us today & tomorrow. Some predictions have suggested snow accumulation of between 18 and 24 inches, wind gusts in the 50 mph range, and an after-blizzard arctic blast of -40 wind chill temperatures.

Businesses have closed early, plans have been re-scheduled, schools have announced closings, and the people at Trevor's office all got to go home today at 2pm (he is still working away in his home office, though...). The weather channel has advised people to STAY INSIDE and avoid being out in the storm, particularly tonight as the wind gusts & snowfall will be particularly dangerous (snow drifts, white outs, etc).

THIS IS WILD.
For this Tennessee girl & my Kentucky man...we have never experienced anything* like it.
We are prepared with food (& extra brownie mixes), supplies (plenty of hot chocolate)...haha. No really we have everything we need
so at this point,
we are just waiting for the winter wonderland to appear!

I have to say, I'm grateful for the ways we are prepared for emergencies with extra food, water, and emergency supplies. We can handle this!

ALSO I'm very grateful that Trevor is home.

LAST week he was in Iowa...all week long.
Here is a pic of one of the treasures he brought back with him:

And...while he was away, I found a little treasure of my own to add to our baby accessory collection:
I love it.
I can't say enough good things about this carrier. The support around the waist makes all the difference! I have a sling & a bjorn carrier--both of which I have enjoyed using--but this is for some serious baby wearing/carrying. Baby N really really really likes to be held so, he & I have been hanging out with this on today and LOVING IT. He has even nursed in the thing: fantastic!

While Trevor has been working today,
I have been baby-carrying
(and doing laundry, emptying the dishwasher, putting away folded laundry, and cleaning the kitchen)
& J has been playing!

There is a special kind of energy when it's snowing outside & you are looking forward to a nice chunk of accumulation. Or is it just me?? We are so excited!!

I'll try to remember to get some pics in between...but for now...
here's the BEFORE shots:

Now, if you'll excuse me... I'm off to make some hot cocoa & snuggle with my babies while we watch the snow fall.
*insert big smile*

*Even though we lived in Wisconsin for a year, we never had anything like this...it was an unusually mild winter when we were there.

I hope you have a fun blizzard and not a nasty one (and you get to keep your power).

The ERGO is seriously the greatest thing ever. I use ours a lot still - makes store trips and downtown walks so much easier than a stroller or a cart.
