Days With My Boys

I am having so much fun these days--
the stages both boys are in provide so many sweet, priceless moments.

J says new words and phrases all the time. I love the way he fearlessly attempts to pronounce new words and the way he incorporates them into his sentences. He is constantly impressing me with his ability to learn and retain information--being two, despite the emotional roller coaster, is so much fun!

He has started to take a more hands-on approach to being a big brother...Trevor found him pulling Baby N out of his carrier the other night and this morning I found this when I turned around from brushing my teeth:

J had pulled Baby N up by his onesie/shirt and put him in his lap, saying "Wanna hole Daydthem, wanna hole Daydthem." (Daydthem=Nathan)

So I let him hold him for a minute and snapped this photo, then advised him how to properly ask for help next time...we'll see if he retains THAT bit of information!

He loves to help with diapering--bringing diapers, wipes, and then disposing of the dirty diapers for me. He lets me know when I have spit up on my shoulder and helps Baby N with his pacifier in the car as needed.

Baby N is growing TOO FAST, I tell you what. He'll be 3 months old next week. NEXT WEEK. I feel like we brought him home only a month ago! He is sleeping great and is overall a very happy baby. He and big brother J have their own language connection these days--which is my favorite thing to watch. Baby N loves to smile and his big blue eyes charm every one we meet!

This is one of his favorite places--photo taken about 5 minutes ago--we love that he loves his swing! (J calls it the "wing" and often requests that I put Baby N in the "wing" whenever he is crying)

I get compliments everywhere I go--one for the redheaded flirt (although lately his response to people is to stick out his tongue & "pthhh" whenever they ask his name. where did that come from?), and another for the sweet, wide-eyed baby on my shoulder. I feel so blessed.

I do look forward to the future days when they are old enough to enjoy more interactive play, but for now I am enjoying the day-to-day adventures with my two little guys. They make me smile...and my days with them fill me with a kind of fulfillment that I haven't found in any other endeavor. It is amazing, really. My babies have taught me more about the love of God than anyone else on this earth.

I love these days with my boys!

Shara- thanks for the comments about the internship. It's really an opportunity he can't pass up, but it is still a little stressful even though we decided he should take it together.

Your little boys are the cutest. I am so happy you have been blessed!

Your boys are so cute! I am glad that my little nephews are interacting so well. Let it be so for the next 20 years. (!)

It's nice to have J on your team as a helper, isn't it? That way, he learns some responsibility, feels needed, and also kind of knows how to "stay out of the way" when you're elbow deep in blow-out.

Fun times. Can't wait to see the boys in a few weeks!
