Baby N: 1 Month

Photos taken this morning: 09.16.01

Today Baby N is 1 month old.

Can you believe it?

We can't.
But we have to. The calendar clearly says September 16th!

Even though his birth certificate has his name spelled wrong*,
this peanut baby has got the all the RIGHT moves.

Here's the one month run down:

  • He is eating like a champ (nursing, thankfully, is so much less stressful this 2nd time around!)
  • He is pooping like a pro (he has added new meaning to the nickname "Mr. Poopie Pants" which we originally gave to J)
  • He is very strong and wants you to know it--strong arms, strong neck (holding his head up every chance he gets!), and strong lungs (oh yes. very strong lungs!)
  • He is a great sleeper (so far)--sleeping stretches of 5-7 hours at night (4 nights in a row now!)
  • He loves to be cuddled, rocked, & held
  • He enjoys his swing (when he's in the mood for it) but not so much the bouncer seat
  • He loves to get kisses from his older brother (who says his name "Deh-dthem")
  • He will win in a staring contest (if the rules allow you to cross your eyes)
  • He is starting to coo, squeal, and sigh--sweet baby sounds
  • He can fit into *some* NB sizes, and *some* 0-3 mo. sizes...he's kind of "in between"
  • He is very alert, keeping his eyes open and watching during his quiet and active awake time
  • He seems so much smaller/thinner than a "9 lb 14 oz baby", and we get comments about this often
  • His "own distinct look" is starting to be more obvious to his adoring fans...he really doesn't look that much like older brother J anymore, he has more features from Mama's side where J is definitely his Daddy's boy (for reference, take a look at J here & here at 1 month old)
  • He hasn't lost his hair yet, but he has a few baby acne bumps
  • Many people think that his hair has red hues, we are waiting until after it falls out and comes back to see...
  • He takes a pacifier SOMEtimes, and likes to be swaddled (as long as one arm stays out)
  • He is overall happy baby boy and we can't get enough of this sweet peanut!

*We spelled his name Nathanael (as it is in the King James version of the Bible), but the hospital submitted the paperwork with Nathaniel. Now we have to go through the hassle of getting it changed...

I agree they don't look all that much alike...distinctly different.
